දැනට ශ්‍රි ලංකාව තුල උපාධි, ඩිප්ලෝමා හා සහතික මට්මමේ ප්‍රමාණ සමික්ෂණ පාඨමාලා පැවත්වේ.
උපාධි පාඨාමාලා:
A) ප්‍රමාණ සමික්ෂණ විද්‍යාව පිලිබදව ගෞරව උපාධි පාඨමාලාව (B.Sc Hon's in Quantity Surveying) - මොරටුව විශ්වවිද්‍යාලය.
මොරටුව විශ්වවිද්‍යාලයේ ගොඩනැගිලි ආර්ථික විද්‍යා අංශයේ පැවැත්වෙන මෙය මෙය අවුරුදු හතරක පුර්ණ කාලින පාඨමාලාවක් වන අතර එයට මාස 8ක කර්මාන්ත පුහුණුකාලයද ඇතුලත්ය.ඉංග්‍රිසි මාධ්‍යයෙන් පැවැත්වෙන මෙම පාඨමාලාවට දැනට වසරකට සිසුන් 100ක් බදවා ගැනේ.මෙය ශ්‍රි ලංකා ප්‍රමාණ සමික්ෂණ ආයතනය(IQSSL), ඔස්ට්‍රේලියානු ප්‍රමාණ සමික්ෂණ ආයතනය(AIQS) හා වරලත් සමික්ෂකයින්ගේ රාජකිය ආයතනය (RICS) යන ආයතනයන්හි පිලිගනු ලබයි.දැනට ශ්‍රි ලංකාව තුල ප්‍රමාණ සමික්ෂකයෙකු විම සදහා ඇති හොදම මාර්ගය මෙය වේ. මෙම පාඨමාලාවට ඇතුලත් විමේ අවම සුදුසුකම, විශ්වවිද්‍යාල ප්‍රවේශයට අවශ්‍යය අවම ලකුණු අවම ලකුණු ලබා තිබිම හා සාමාන්‍ය පෙළ විභාගයේදි ඉංග්‍රිසි සදහා සම්මාන සාමාර්ථයක් ලබා ගැනිමයි.තවද ඒ ඒ වසර සදහා කඩයිම් ලකුණු(Z score) විශ්වවිද්‍යාල ප්‍රතිපාදන කොමිෂන් සභාව මගින් නිකුත් කරනු ලබයි.2015 වසරේ උසස් පෙළ සදහා කඩයිම් ලකුණු අනුව එය කොලඹ දිස්ත්‍රික්කය සදහා 1.7049කි.

ReplyDeleteNDQS is not conducted by IQSSL but by NAITA. How a person can become a quantity surveyor only just undertaking a civil engineering course like NDES, NDT or HNDE? Where is he/ she going to learn about quantity surveying?

ReplyDeleteCivil engineering courses like NDT, NDES has the subject " Quantity Surveying". The those students are getting QS knowledge through it(But bot like BSc or NCT Qs's).Also they have a good construction background.
Also there is a high demand for QS's in Sri Lanka and abrod than Civil engineers also they are well paid.
But the supply of QS's are quite less. Because untill last 2-3 years we have only BSc and NCT courses.
Then those people with NDT, NDES qualifications try to jump in to the QS field.
Also they are going for less salary than a qualified QS.
I think peoples with NDT,HNDE,NDES qualification should be need to get a acceptable QS qualification if they want to continue their carrier as a QS.I thin IQSSL is the best place for that. I think those peoples can get exceptions from some subjects also.
IQSSL is conducting courses under "College of Quantity Surveying". The course is in three levels. Completion of the course is the first step to became a charted QS.
I Know some of QS's in middle east with NDT,HNDE qualifications are doing there Msc also.

DeleteI disagree with QS's comment on Civil Engineering Diploma holders.Dilan is correct.Civil Engineering Diploma holders are having a sound construction background.That is vital in the field to carry out a job as an Quantity Surveyor (both pre-contract & post-construction works).Civil Engineering Diploma courses also covers most of the subjects that covers under QS courses.But I also agree that Civil Engineers must improve there knowledge in the field of QS by studying professional course (specially conducted by College of QS).

Aim of a Civil engineering course is to generate a Civil engineer, and also aim of a QS course is to generate a QS.
Civil Engineer and QS are two different professionals.While a Civil Engineer mainly responsible for the Quality of a product, QS mainly responsible for the Cost of the product.
Both courses are designed to provide required knowledge for each profession.The knowledge required for QS and Engineer are different.
But there are some subjects common for both Engineering and QS courses, for an example Land surveying and IT; but not most subjects only a few subjects.
While Quantity surveyors studying the Quantity surveying as a Diploma/Degree Civil Engineers are studying Quantity surveying as a subject.
I think this is not problem with profession, There is hidden truth, It is QS has good demand in Industry

DeleteYou can get a degree by following a BSc degree programme from private institutions like ICBT/BCAS. Their conducting Bsc degree with foreign universities. But it's expensive.

If you want to be a qualified QS, you are required to follow a well structured qs course. No use of following short course to be a professional QS. Follow QS Certificate from Technical collage and thereafter follow Bsc from UNIVOTEC.

You could follow a QS Diploma from a private Institute like ICBT,BCAS,CSCT or from IQSSL under CQS(Collage of Quantity Surveying). Those Diploma are a bit expensive(pls contact the institute for the latest course fee). If you follow ICBT,BCAS,CSCT, your can continue till BSc degree from same institute or you can go for some foreign universities in UK or some other countries. Also some of those diploma are accredited by RICS(e.g-CSCT, however pls confirm it with the them and relevant institute). However the course their conducting is Edexcel and it's designed for UK. With regards, CQS diploma, it's a course designed for SL and conduct through IQSSL, upon completion of this diploma you can be a chartered QS, upon completion of level 1 to 3 courses.
Answer - However you could follow a QS Certificate course from Technical collage and its free. Upon completion of Certificate and with experience you can continue till Bsc degree from University of vocational technology.However A/L is not required to follow this certificate course.
Just now I also got to know about the QS Diploma in SLIATE. I think it's a government institute and therefore course should have designed for SL market however ICBT(edxcel diploma) designed for UK market. But there is no big issue to working in SL or Middle east by following a Edexcel course. Please check with SLIATE, pathways to you to continue your further education upon completion of their diploma(e.g-can you progress with a degrees? ) and further acceptance of their diploma(is is accredited by IQSSL and etc.)

A:ACTA has two QS diplomas.
Edexcel course
It's a Higher National Diploma course. Course content is same as other HND in other private institutions like ICBT/BCAS since it’s an Edexcel course. An ACTA is semi government institute.
There is less students in ACTA compare to other which gives you more opportunities to interact with lecturers and entertained the facilities. However previous some batches took a longer time to complete the Diploma that it’s duration due to various issues.
NVQ course
This course is designed for local market and you can continue till Bsc degree from other government institutes like UNIVITEC.

Currently (2016 Dec. ), In Sri Lanka you can find a job, but in middle east it may difficult due to market condition, Australia also a bit difficult (for highly qualified QS with a considerable experience also may need to wait 6-7 months to find a job in Australia

ReplyDeleteAll institutes are conducting UK Edexcel Diploma/Degree course. No IQSSL recognition for any of institution but they have RICS recognition. Cannot comment on job priority, it depends on your performance at the interview and etc. But some companies may prefer some collages depends on their previous experience with the QS passed out from respective collages.

DeleteWe have NVQ level 1 to above; NVQ 7 is Degree, 6 – HND, 5 – Diploma and 4 for Certificate.
If you passed NVQ 4 level course from an institute you can directly join for a NVQ 5 course in another institute but same disciplinary.

DeleteGovernment technical collage qualification is valid.
After you completed the Certificate, you can enroll to ‘University of Vocational Technology’ for the BSc in QS.
Or alternatively you may enrol to private institutions.

Waiting here for your some advises .....
1. Ask your friends who are in Qatar how much you could earn and save in Qatar and come to Qatar if you think its worth.
Delete2. Now Qatar market is in recession, therefore fewer projects are coming; companies have terminated some employers, some companies reduced employer's salaries. Therefore, it may difficult you to find a job even came here, but it's not impossible, it's depend on your luck and connections.
3. From mid of 2016 Qatar government not accepting any distance learning/online qualifications. BCAS awarding UK university diplomas/degree, therefore since you studied in Sri Lanka while the certificate has been issued from UK, you certificate also will ne be certified by Qatar embassy; if your come here without a certified diploma, it may more difficult to find a job.(but no such rule in Dubai)
4. Also I heard BCAS are helping students to come to Qatar on visit visa and upon you got a job, you have to pay some amount to BCAS, check that one also.
I would like to suggest;
1. If you strongly believed you can quickly find a job here, come without thinking twice.
2. Otherwise, try to find a job in Middle East while in Sri Lanka via friends or agencies.
3. Complete your degree from BCAS or other private institute or from UNIVOTEC while working in SL.

ReplyDeleteThat means you have only one S and other main two subjects failed. For most of the institutions your need to pass A/L or minimum 2 Ss to enroll to degree/Diploma courses.

2) In ICBT they have foundation course for the students who have not pass A/Ls but willing to follow their QS diploma, following completion of the foundation course you may follow their Diploma.
As I aware CSCT has not been recognized by IQSSL, Only the University of Moraatuwa and Collage of QS courses are accredited.
Sir I think NIBM will going to start a new QS diploma.Please give me benifits of that diploma.

However, this institute has good reputation and also it's a government institute.However course duration is 1 yr, other institution like CSCT course duration is more than 1 yr(but those are HNDs). Contact NIBM to find any course specific benefits.

2. Otherwise, you can follow NCT from technical colleges and then complete degree from UNVOTEC.
If you can find someone to finance for you, you can follow a diploma/degree from a private institute like CSCT/ICBT.
Also there are diplomas available in Vocational training institute, Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education.

DeleteFor most of the HND courses in private institutions(e.g. BCAS) entry qualification is A/L (2 or 3 passes).
For you, they have a APL route (Accredited Prior learning). In this route they will allow you to study the HND with exceptions for some subjects based on you previous qualification. Course fee also reduced accordingly.
Please contact a such institute and discuss.
However, check the possibility to follow professional level 1 o 3 coursed from IQSSL or follow their HND course via below contact details of CQS/IQSSL.

ReplyDeleteIVQ - International Vocational Qualifications (IVQs) are qualifications certifying skills at the post-secondary and undergraduate level of training that have been specially designed for the global marketplace. It has three levels (Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma). I think City and Guilds QS course is a IVQ qualification.
DeleteEdexcel- Edexcel is a awarding body for both academic and vocational qualifications. There are QS diplomas conducting y this organization (those you can follow via ICBT and etc.)
NVQ - In Sri Lanka we have national Vocational Qualification, it has standaralized the education qualifications. It has levels from 1 to 7, 7 is degree and 5 is for Diploma. You can get NVQ level 5/4 QS diploma/certificates from government technical colleges and etc.
If u follow NVQ level 4 from one technical college, you can enrol for level 5 from any other technical colleges directly.
If u follow Edexcel QS diploma, you can directly enrol for Degree from any other registered (with Edexcel) organization.
NVQ and Edexcel are highly accepted in the market. I’m not that much aware on this IVQ. If you are following a QS course go for NVQ or Edexcel. If you are in SL, better go with NVQ and its government system and you can continue education via UNIVOTEC and etc.. But if you are going overseas you may follow Edexcel as you can continue your education in most of countries (via Edexcel centres’ therein).
Even if you have NVQ QS qualification you can enrol for Edexcel courses too.
